REALTOR Profile: The Lotzof Group

Lotzof Group - NEW

As brothers growing up in South Africa, Marc and Craig Lotzof could not have imagined that one day they would create a multi-million dollar real estate team, assist over 900 buyers and sellers totaling over one billion dollars in sales (and counting) while working with one of a kind luxury properties and high end commercial developments in San Diego and the surrounding area. Yet for over 30 years, The Lotzof Group has been a powerful partnership in the Southern California real estate industry and in 2016, they took one step further in their already remarkable career by joining Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty, where they set a record with over $74 million dollars in sales last year alone.

With many successes in the last 12 months, perhaps the highlight in 2016 for The Lotzof Group was serving as the Buyer’s Agent on the highest priced sold home in La Jolla for 2016 at $15,000,000 dollars. The stunning oceanfront property had been off and on the market for several years until the Lotzof’s presented the right buyer for this Mediterranean style mansion. Other notable achievements for the year included:

* The highest home sale in downtown San Diego in nine years at $6,275,000.

* Highest priced for an unfinished home in Dana Point (fourth largest home sale in Orange County) at $11,200,000.

* 7th highest priced condo sale in La Jolla at $3,500,000.

However, not one to rest on their laurels, both Marc and Craig are looking forward to 2017.

“As excited as we are about what The Lotzof Group has achieved, we are firmly focused on continuing our hard work to make 2017 even better for our clients.” says Marc Lotzof.

Craig Lotzof agrees, “We are blessed to be working with homebuyers and sellers while showing some of the most significant properties in San Diego. From condos to castles, for every lifestyle, there is a home just waiting, and we find it for our clients.”

Moving to the United States in 1978, Marc graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Psychology and Business and started his real estate career in 1985 before moving to San Diego three years later where he started The Lotzof Group. Craig joined his brother after earning an International Business degree from San Diego State University. Together they both graduated from the Real Estate Institute and hold several designations as well as serving as active members of the National Association of Realtors, the California Association of Realtors, the San Diego Association of Realtors and the La Jolla Brokers Association.

The brothers’ decision to join the internationally recognized Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty in January of last year has allowed them to expand their marketing and branding resources while still offering top caliber service that is personalized and tailored for their clients’ individual needs. Their expertise in research, attention to detail as well as their extensive knowledge of the San Diego market, has largely attributed to their success. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Marc and Craig both love what they do, and their enthusiasm is contagious.

“While we take our jobs very seriously, it’s important to make the real estate experience as enjoyable and less stressful as possible,” says Marc. “We love coming to work every day and are proud of the team we have created. This is not just a job for us, it’s a passion.”

“We recognize that buying or selling a home is a big decision,” adds Craig, “We feel honored that our clients have trusted us which is why they remain loyal and refer business to us. That’s really what our company is all about.”

As real estate innovators earning the respect of their peers and clients alike, The Lotzof Group is a natural resource for anyone ready to call America’s Finest City home.

The Lotzof Group is based at Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty’s Global Headquarters located at 1111 Prospect Street, La Jolla and can be reached at 619.994.7653

Home Buyers Cozy Up To Fireplaces

imagereader-4

1904 Estrada Way, La Jolla, Italian Renaissance estate home tucked away on a private cul-de-sac with spectacular ocean views and a two story great room featuring a grand fireplace.

While San Diego enjoys some of the most mild and enviable winters in the country,  home buyers still cozy up to properties that offer fireplaces despite our warmer temperatures. In fact, many still consider a working fireplace a worthwhile investment, and while San Diegans may not care much about this feature as a heat source, it adds ambiance, comfort and luxury to a room like no other amenity.

Fireplaces have changed dramatically through the years, especially with the revolution in home building and design.  Classic wood burning fireplaces are still extremely popular and used primarily for its rustic charm, while more modern design uses other materials such as concrete and stone veneer.  Also in demand are long, linear fireplaces that boasts a clean, contemporary look.

According to the Census Bureau latest data, almost half of new homes in the United States include a fireplace. The majority of buyers who opt to purchase a home without one, have been willing to pay on average $1,400 extra according to the National Association of Realtors, which is more than they would pay for a kitchen island or walk in closet.  In the past several years, outdoor fireplaces have continued to grow  in  popularity and are an added focal point to the yard making dining alfresco or sitting outside on a cool evening, all the more attractive.

If you are in the market this year for real estate, Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty offers a variety of properties at all price points.  Here are just a few with incredible fireplaces designed to bring warmth and style to your home.

Event Co-Chairs Colleen Coen, Darcy Delano Smith and Christine Wright, along with Steve Games, Chairman, Pacific Sotheby’s Realty
It was a cold and blustery night in La Jolla on Thursday, December 15th, but that didn’t stop those who gathered at Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty’s Global Headquarters to help raise funds to improve the lives of homeless, abused and at-risk youth and their families. Unwrap the Gift of Kindness, the holiday shopping event hosted by Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty agents Darcy Delano Smith, Christine Wright and Colleen Coen, raised over $4,000 dollars to support San Diego Youth Services.
“1 in 60 children in San Diego are homeless and in some areas of the county the numbers are much greater,” according to Darcy Delano Smith. “San Diego Youth Services is a well-respected and established local organization dedicated to supporting the needs of homeless children throughout our community.”

The open house style event offered attendees the opportunity to enjoy tasty treats, mingle with friends and shop with purpose. Darcy, Christine and Colleen partnered with Jewels with a Purpose, a charity-driven jewelry company featuring unique and exclusive Italian-made jewelry inspired by the latest designer trends.  The company’s mission is to help raise funds for non-profits and organizations through donations of event proceeds.
“As we are all in shelter today with the rain, remember, there are children out there without parents or a place to go and somehow still making it to school despite the odds,” says Christine Wright. “San Diego Youth Services is so important to give a child not just food and shelter, but programs to help them to thrive.”
San Diego Youth Services (SDYS) is a nationally recognized non-profit organization that since founded, has helped to improve the lives of hundreds of thousands of homeless, runaway, abused and at-risk youth and their families. Launched in 1970 when volunteers established one of the first runaway youth shelters in America, SDYS now provides intensive services to more than 20,000 children and their families each year. This nationally recognized agency offers emergency services, safe places to live and long-term solutions for kids “on their own” by providing shelters, group homes, foster homes, community centers and transitional housing. Professional help for high risk youth is provided at all 14 major locations in San Diego County.
“The number of children in our community in need of assistance and support is so great and we are very appreciative to those who came out to shop to make the fundraiser a success,”adds Colleen Coen.
Next year’s fundraiser has already been scheduled for December 14, 2017.
