Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the Patriot Rally, a fundraising event that will be held aboard the USS Midway in San Diego Bay on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. The Patriot Rally is an event to raise funds and increase public awareness and support for several Veterans organizations that strive to help the families of the men and women of the U.S. Military, Veterans and those who have died in the service to our nation.
There wasn’t even a second of hesitancy when we were approached to sponsor this event, says Steve Games, Chairman, Pacific Sotheby’s Realty, as well as a Navy Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. The heart of San Diego is our military community and this event is an incredible opportunity to salute these young people and the families of the fallen soldiers who have fought so that we may continue to enjoy the freedoms we have as Americans.
The Patriot Rally will feature a special screening of the international award-winning military documentary No Greater Love aboard the flight deck of the USS Midway. The film explores combat deployment through the eyes of an Army chaplain who carried a camera in Afghanistan, capturing the gritty reality of war as well as the bond that is made among troops. The film shows the experience of war, but more importantly, helps viewers understand the personal struggles of soldiers.
The event will also include the presentation of Colors provided by the JROTC Color Guard of Chaparral High School in Temecula, California, a special performance of the United States National Anthem by country singer Amy Scruggs, guided tours of the USS Midway and no host food and drink. Tickets for the event are $25 and can be purchased at https://nogreaterlovecampaign.ticketspice.com/ngl-film
All proceeds from the event will benefit Angels of America’s Fallen, American Legion Post 416, USO San Diego and Operation Engage America. Each one of these organizations works tirelessly to ensure that Active Military, Veterans and family members of fallen service men and women receive the support they need.
The Patriot Rally was the brainchild of Chaplain Justin Roberts, Producer of the documentary “No Greater Love” who enlisted event Co-Chairs Trisha Marshall and Matthew Schillingburg. Marshall and Schillingburg quickly jumped on “Board” and presented the opportunity Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty for sponsorship.
“We both care deeply for our Veterans and the Gold Star Families and wanted to create an impactful way to help raise awareness as well as funds to support the needs of those who have given so much in service to their country,” says Marshall. “Veterans needs are many, those who do return home from combat often suffer tremendous PTS and the suicide rates among our Vets are staggering. For those who sadly do not return, families are left behind often with very little means of support.”
San Diego is the first city to host this event. Similar rallies are planned across the nation, culminating aboard the USS. Intrepid in New York harbor on 9/11.
Our goal was to help communities connect with Military, Veterans and the families who have lost a service member, says Shillingburg. “These are our neighbors, our co-workers and our friends who often keep their struggles hidden from those around them. This event is designed to bring us together in support of one another.”
